The unveiling ceremony for the Big Data Management Department of Hainan Province was held in Haikou on May 23.
The establishment of the department was one of the institutional innovation initiatives in the construction of the China (Hainan) Pilot Free Trade Zone and a free trade port with Chinese characteristics, which will promote the innovation and enhancement of efficient services of Hainan's big data management system.
The department is established and directly managed by the Hainan Provincial People's Government. It takes responsibility for big data construction, management, and services. It mainly manages usage of financial funds, reviews city's and county's information construction projects, and organizes the implementation of smart city policies.
From a social perspective, the department will promote the development and application of big data in various fields, such as social economy and people's livelihood security, guiding the research and application of big data analysis.
It can also coordinate the construction and management of the provincial government information network system, government data center, e-government infrastructure, and basic public government information projects. It can collect government data, register and manage government data assets, as well as promote the development of the big data industry.
In addition, the department will advance foreign exchanges and cooperation in fields of big data and information technology, organize relevant enterprises to participate in major international and domestic activities, guide enterprises in talent team building, and carry out informational talent education.
Shen Danyang, deputy governor of the Hainan Provincial People's Government, and other officials from provincial government departments attended the ceremony.
