Established in 1956, the Affiliated Hospital for Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a large-scale and comprehensive 3A-grade hospital, the highest of China's three-tier grading system for public hospitals, encompassing medical treatment, medical teaching and scientific research.

The hospital as a whole consists of three districts: the main district, covering 87,000 square kilometers with 1,500 sickbeds; rehabilitation district, covering 42,000 sq km with 700 sickbeds; Shenben hospital district, covering 20,000 sq km with 300 sickbeds. It is also equipped with large-scale, advanced medical treatment equipment, including MRI scanner, CT scanner, Digital x-ray machine, 3D-UCG Philips ie33 unit, advanced heart monitor, automatic biochemistry examination instrument, and extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy unit.

The hospital has 2,452 staff, among which, 108 are specialists in various fields, including a Chinese traditional physician, 14 national prestigious doctors, 41 provincial prestigious doctors, 13 municipal prestigious doctors, 15 experts subsidized by the State Council, also with 24 outstanding clinical training talents of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. 482 of them hold senior professional titles.

Meanwhile, it has 55 clinical departments, with 23 first-level departments, 16 second-level departments, 10 auxiliary medical departments and four pharmacy departments. There are six key clinical specialties of the Ministry of Health, as well as an emergency clinical base of TCM & integration of traditional and western medicine in the hospital. 

The hospital has kept friendly relations with many hospitals, universities and academic organizations in more than 30 countries and regions, attracting many foreign students and sending its experts overseas for academic exchanges, scientific research and opening of TCM clinics in the United States, South Korea, Japan, Russia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, as well as Australia.
