Taicang rehabilitation project receives award at Health Yangtze River Delta Summit

The rehabilitation project in Taicang, Jiangsu province recently received a "Best Practice" award at the first Health Yangtze River Delta Summit held in Shanghai.

Since 2015, Taicang has focused on the rehabilitation of mental disorders and founded the "Rehabilitation Post".

A working mode for the rehabilitation of mental disorders has taken shape in the city, which is led by local government, guided by professional institutions and managed by social organizations.

The rehabilitation posts recruit qualified patients with mental disorders, where they can learn how to take care of themselves in daily life and do work within their capabilities and get paid.

To date, Taicang has built 12 such rehabilitation posts and received 145 patients with mental disorders.

The Health Yangtze River Delta Summit was organized by the health commissions in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces and Shanghai Jiaotong University.

As part of the summit, the selection of Best Practice aims to promote the practical experience of medical treatment in the Yangtze River Delta region to more places.
