Ordos to build electric vehicle R&D institute

The government of Ordos is planning to build a research institute for electric vehicles, according to a statement made by city Mayor Siqinbilige at a meeting on May 14.

During the meeting attended by Siqinbilige and Fan Jianping, dean of the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology in the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the mayor briefed the visiting delegation on the general situation in Ordos.

He said that Ordos is increasing its efforts to develop a modern energy economy, and was aiming to become a demonstration city for modern energy economy.

The mayor expressed his hope that the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology would expand its cooperation with Ordos, providing more technological support for the city’s development.

At the meeting, both parties agreed to cooperate in building a research institute for electric vehicles in Ordos and the Ordos branch of the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology. 

Fan thanked the government of Ordos for its strong support. He said that Ordos is blessed with rich energy resources, and has large potential for economic growth.

He said that the institute would contribute its share to the industrial upgrade and high-quality development of the city.
