China Telecom, the country's biggest telecoms operator, and South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region inked a strategic cooperation agreement on May 17, aiming to boost the research and development of the region's cloud computing and big data capabilities.
Both sides plan to optimize the region's digital communication facilities and deploy a high-speed broadband optical network to promote the popularization and application of its digital government affairs, according to the agreement.
The agreement added that China Telecom and Guangxi will carry forward the integration and sharing of government data, greatly raising the abilities for governance, decision-making, and service to drive the all-round development of big data application for government branches, citizens, and businesses. In addition, the two sides are expected to deepen cooperation in fields like scientific research and digital development planning.
Centering on the development of Guangxi's big data industry, Guangxi's partnership with China Telecom will give a boost to the innovation and upgrading of the region's digital government affairs, as well as promote the popularization of big data in enterprises and governments at all levels.
