A cross-Straits joint animation – God of War Kuan Kuong – was recently completed after three years of production, and is now set for release.
The co-production was shot by Taiwan cartoonist Tsai Chih-chung and Guangdi Temple in Yuncheng city, in northern Shanxi province.
The animation recounts classical stories during the lifetime of Guan Yu, a famous general in the Shu Kingdom during the Three Kingdoms period (AD 220-280) who was born in Haizhou town, Yuncheng city, and is regarded by Chinese people as a symbol of loyalty, courage and righteousness.
It is scheduled to hit the screen on the hero's birthday – the 24th day of the sixth month in the Chinese lunar calendar, which falls on July 26 this year.
The Cultural Relics Management Institute of Guangdi Temple will recruit 100 "honorary producers" and call on organizations and individuals interested in Guan Yu and traditional culture to join in the promotion and distribution of the animation.
