An international medical college dedicated to cultivating world-class talents and professionals was unveiled in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, on May 18.
Shulan International Medical School, a joint venture between Zhejiang Shuren University and Hangzhou Shulan Hospital Management Co Ltd, marks an important milestone for the university in its efforts to build a platform combining medicine, teaching and research.
The newly-established school has a team of qualified teaching personnel led by academicians, international medical experts, doctoral tutors, as well as basic medical and clinical medical experimental platforms.
The school will also carry out substantial cooperation with renowned universities and medical intuitions in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to provide personnel exchange opportunities for students.
Zheng Shusen, China's leading organ transplant expert and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was appointed head of the school.
A scholarship of 200,000 yuan ($28,980) was also founded at the unveiling ceremony. The scholarship will be awarded to talented students.
The school's cornerstone clinical medicine program plans to recruit 100 students this year.
