Established on Aug 29, 2011, Wuhan East Lake Comprehensive Bonded Area was Hubei's first comprehensive bonded area approved by the State Council, featuring such functions as bonded warehouses, export processing, logistics and port.
With a planned area of 5.41 sq km, the area is located in Liufang Area of the Wuhan East Lake National Innovation Demonstration Zone. It has formed such industries as photoelectronics, biomedicines, equipment manufacturing, energy and environmental protection and advanced technology.
It is located beside the Wuhan Tianhe International Airport, which has flights linking more than 20 countries and regions around the world and all the major domestic cities within a 2-hour flight. It is close to the Wuhan No 2 Airport, which is mainly used for cargo transportation. It is home to the Wuhan New Port, which features modern shipping, comprehensive bonded zone and port-centered industry, and is designed as a hub port along the Yangtze River with annual throughputs of 100 million tons of bulk cargo and 10 million TEUs of containers. The bonded area is also a hub for railway and highway transportation. With three large railway stations, the developed high-speed railways can take you to any provincial capital in China.
