Xi’an National Innovation Demonstration Zone

Xi’an National Innovation Demonstration Zone, built by the Xi’an Hi-Tech Industries Development Zone with the approval of the State Council in 2015, is the ninth national-level innovation demonstration area after Beijing Zhongguancun National Demonstration Zone, Wuhan East Lake National Innovation Demonstration Zone and Shanghai Zhangjiang National Innovation Demonstration Zone, etc.

The zone enables the Xi’an high-tech zone to make pioneering efforts in transferring and transforming the scientific and technological achievements, combining technology and finance, planning the scientific and technological resources, applying and protecting the intellectual property rights and attracting talents.

By the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20), the zone is expected to forge two industrial clusters with global influence and create the first-class industrial development pattern with the proportion of the emerging industries accounting for 50 percent of the total. It also aims to build 50,000 scientific and technological enterprises and more than 100 world-renowned innovative companies.

By 2025, the zone is expected to realize a turnover of 5 trillion yuan ($742.9 billion) and become a world-class innovative center under the country’s Belt and Road Initiative.
