Ankang National Hi-Tech Industries Development Zone is a national-level high-tech zone established on Sep 29, 2015, with the approval of the State Council. It is situated to the north of the Hanjiang River and covers an area of 67 square kilometers.
Relying on the selenium-rich biological resources and natural Chinese herbal medicines, the zone aims to build itself into a base for China’s selenium-rich food, plants extraction and Shaanxi’s new materials. It will build business centers of industries, research and development, commerce and logistics in the junction of Shaanxi, Sichuan, Chongqing and Hubei provinces. The zone focuses on projects in areas of logistics, trade and services and mainly develops equipment manufacturing such as construction machinery, farm machinery and auto parts processing.
The zone has advanced more than 1,000 projects and attracted over 600 enterprises. Its major economic growth rate is some 10 percentage points higher than the city's average level.
In 2017, the zone recorded a GDP growth of 21.1 percent year-on-year, with gross industrial output value increasing by 27.8 percent. The fixed-asset investment and total retail sales of consumer goods grew by 26.5 percent and 15.9 percent year-on-year respectively.
