Construction work on a rare earth metals production plant recently resumed at Inner Mongolia Rare Earth New Material Industrial Park, according to a May 19 report in the Baotou Daily.
The project is being funded by Baotou Jinweida Rare Earth Materials Co and is expected to yield an annual output of 7,500 tons of rare earth metals and alloys. The project will cost an estimated 180 million yuan ($26.06 million) and cover an area of 4.4 hectares.
At present, foundation engineering is taking place at the plant, and it is expected to go into operation in August. After it is completed and put into production, the annual output value is expected to reach as much as 1.8 billion yuan.
