Exhibition ramps up Sino-ASEAN cultural exchanges

Buddhist Flower of Myanmar, an art exhibition of Myanmar landscapes by Chinese artists, came to its final stop in Guilin's Yangshuo county on May 18. 

The exhibition, co-organized by the Guangxi International Cultural Exchange Center and Consulate General of Myanmar in Nanning, has proven to be a hit in its previous stops. The 40-day exhibition in Laibin received 640,000 visitors and its Nanning stop received 180,000 visitors. Sanya media published more than 25 articles about the exhibition.

U Soe Thet Naung, Consul-General of Myanmar in Nanning, spoke highly of the exhibition. He noted that Myanmar and China are neighboring countries with a long-standing friendship. Myanmar has conducted in-depth cooperation with China in commerce, trade, and culture, while taking an active part in the construction of the Belt & Road.

The China-ASEAN Cultural & Art House was inaugurated in Yangshuo on the same day to bring more artists to the county for artistic creation, art salons, and exhibitions.

Guangxi and ASEAN are geographically connected and culturally interlinked. Yangshuo is open to cultural exchanges, tourism cooperation, and commercial connections with ASEAN countries, said Jiang Chunhua, Party secretary of Yangshuo.

Vansy Vilygnaphone, Consul-General of Laos in Nanning, read the Yangshuo Initiative that day, calling upon China and ASEAN nations to strengthen cooperation and exchanges in environmental protection, culture, tourism, and youth issues.
