Xiamen in East China's Fujian province plans to ramp up efforts to develop its artificial intelligence industry, according to a signing ceremony at the Second Digital China Summit on May 5, local media reported.
The strategic cooperation framework agreement on developing AI industry in Xiamen was inked by the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, Xiamen University and Yango Holdings Group.
The agreement states that the three sides will co-build the Xiamen AI Technology Park and an AI institute, which is expected to be turned into a leading AI industry demonstration base with international influence.
Such a move will promote the integration between new-generation AI technologies and real economy, as well as boost the development of advanced manufacturing and information industries in Xiamen.
Xiamen boasts a strong foundation in the AI industry. The city's Xiamen Torch Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone is home to 15 companies dedicated to developing AI technologies, while 100 companies are employing the technology.
