Hohhot in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region is planning to offer free tickets for visitors to welcome the upcoming International Museum Day and China Tourism Day, which falls on May 18 and 19 respectively, according to the Hohhot culture and tourism authority.
A series of special events will be held to celebrate the events on May 18, according to the local government.
Free tickets will be offered across the city to sanitation workers and residents living under poverty line.
Tourist attractions, including Laoniuwan Geopark and Chilechuan Culture Tourism Park, plan to issue 6,000 free tickets.
Museums in the city have launched themed activities to celebrate the events.
A series of cultural shows will also be on hand for visitors.
According to the municipal government, these activities are expected to stimulate enthusiasm to travel among locals.
