Travelers flock to Dalian for Chinese Scholar Tree blossom

Dalian is the home of the Chinese Scholar Tree (Pagoda Tree), which blossoms in May. The Dalian Chinese Scholar Tree Blossom Affair is a big annual event in the city.

This year's affair will be held from May 25 to May 31, the 30th held since 1989, and the international tourism culture week across Northeast Asia will also be held at the same time.

Kite flying contests, folk dancing performances, Chinese painting and calligraphy displays are usually held during the period. In the kite flying contest, participants from over all the country bring all sorts of Chinese kites to compete.

This year, 28 specific thematic activities will be included in the fair, which is the most abundant one in its history. The activities cover all districts, cities and counties, towns and villages in Dalian. Activities include hiking, gourmet and shopping, which will create a more comfortable festival atmosphere than ever for the citizens and tourists, and its new themes, new forms will improve their sense of participation and experience.

Up to now, about 1,500 tourists from more than 16 countries and regions are said to attend the fair, from countries including Japan, Russia, France, Germany, Vietnam and Cambodia.

As the tradition of Dalian Chinese scholar tree Blossom Affair, the culture week this year will be held in Donggang CBD, there will be performance groups coming from South Korea, Russia, Japan and local groups of Dalian displaying wonderful shows for the citizens every night during the six-day period.

As an another important part of the fair, the 2019 China-Japan cultural tourism exchange conference is to open on May 26 at Furama Hotel. About 600 participants from China and Japan will gather to discuss the topic on "promoting mutual-beneficial cooperation in culture and tourism". A number of economic and trade talks will also be held at the same time.
