China Unicom officially launched its 5G business in Baotou, in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, with a promotional event held in the city on May 14, according to the local media.
At the promotional event, the telco’s Baotou branch made the first 5G video phone call, which is clearer and smoother than the 4G video phone call.
According to a measurement taken by an expert from Huawei, the download speed of mobile phones using the 5G network can reach 800 megabytes per second, and the upload speed can reach 60 Mb/s.
In the next few years, China Unicom Baotou Branch will fully ramp up the scale of 5G network construction and push through promotions to boost the popularity of mobile terminals.
