A green-energy electric vehicle charging station was set up recently in Wuxi's Xishan district, using photovoltaic power to make electric vehicle charging cheaper and more efficient.
Covering an area of 1,200 square meters, the new electric vehicle charging station owns 22 charging piles with 80kW of charging power each. Compared with other charging stations, users can save about 20 percent of time per charge.
The charging station's 16.5 kW rooftop distributed photovoltaic power station, along with a nearby 600 kWh energy storage station, provides green energy for the operation of the charging station.

About 25 to 30 kWh is needed for electric vehicles to run over 200 kilometers. With the price of 1.16 yuan ($0.17) per degree, electric vehicle drivers can save over 100 yuan each day compared with who use traditional fuel vehicles.
Wuxi city plans to build more green-energy electric vehicle charging stations in the future to meet the increasing demand of new-energy vehicle users.
