Bird-watching guide in Harbin

A large number of migratory birds have returned to Harbin as the weather warms up in mid-May. More than 100 species of birds have stopped over in Harbin to breed from May to September, according to Professor Wang Huai of Northeast Forestry University.

Eurasian coot

Eurasian coots usually fly back to Harbin in mid-April and stay until late October. The birds are easy to find in suburban water areas of the city.

Yellow bittern

Yellow bitterns usually arrive in Harbin in mid-May. The birds can fly particularly fast and like to nest and reproduce in the reeds.
