Advanced science and technology achievements from Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, received 86 prizes out of a possible 299, accounting for 28.8 percent of the total, in an awards ceremony in the province on May 14.
Projects led by nine hi-tech enterprises, including Alibaba Cloud, Hikvision, Ant Financial, New H3C Group, Geely Automobile and LianLian Pay, bagged the top prizes for scientific and technological progress.
Half of the award-winning projects are related to the digital economy industry, which demonstrates Hangzhou's prowess in the cutting-edge technologies of the digital economy, and lays a solid foundation for innovative development, said an official from the municipal science and technology bureau.
These recognized projects have created economic and social benefits in the research and development and application stages.
MaxCompute 2.0, a unified data processing platform for large-scale data warehousing developed by Alibaba, was one of the first prize winners.
The project has been put into commercial use with its direct economic benefit hitting 5.37 billion yuan ($781.85 million) over the past three years, propelling the development of big data industry of China, said the official.
