Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (LNUTCM), founded in 1958, is the only institution for higher learning in Liaoning Province to train and educate professionals in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Chinese pharmacy, acupuncture and moxibustion, Chinese massage, integration of TCM and western medicine in clinical practice, and senior nursing.

Covering more than 1040 mu (69.33 ha), LNUTCM has 21 undergraduate programs with over 10,000 enrolled students. In LNUTCM, there are 17 colleges and schools, four direct affiliated hospitals, one teaching department, two experimental teaching centers, one animal lab center, three research institutes, two libraries and five museums.

The university's main campus is located in Shenyang, the capital of the Liaoning Province, with its branch campus in the seaside city - Dalian and Benxi. LNUTCM has five key subjects, namely, TCM, basic medicine, pharmacy, chemistry and integration of TCM and western medicine.

LNUTCM is also one of the Chinese universities that were first authorized to recruit international students as well as students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. It is the international cooperation base of TCM between China-Thailand and China-Central Eastern European countries. LNUTCM is eligible to take international students with scholarship awarded by the Chinese government, Confucius Institute Scholarship as well as PHD scholarship awarded by Liaoning province. Located in Asia, it also aims for students from Europe and the United States (US), exploring Africa and even around the world.

LNUTCM has carried out extensive international exchanges and cooperation, successively establishing cooperation with universities, medical institutions and academic organizations in 35 countries and regions including South Korea, Singapore, Russia, the United Kingdom, US, Canada, Thailand, Australia, South Africa, as well as Slovakia, and signed about 80 cooperation agreements. The university has been engaged in various forms of international academic, medical and educational cooperation, and hosted international conferences and meetings numerous times.
