Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine (HLJUCM) was founded in 1954. It's an influential university with high level of teaching, scientific research and medical treatment for key construction and development in Heilongjiang province. HLJUCM was appointed to be the national clinical base of Chinese medicine in 2008. 

HLJUCM has 11 colleges, 11 affiliated hospitals, one academy, 24 teaching-hospitals and 62 practical bases, three mobile post-doctoral stations, 28 specialties authorized to award doctorate degree, 36 specialties authorized to award master degree and 21 specialties authorized to award bachelor degrees. It also has four State-level key disciplines, four key disciplines of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as 18 provincial level key disciplines. 

The university has 17 doctoral programs and 28 postgraduate programs. Besides, it has 18 undergraduate programs in 13 fields covering medicine, science, liberal arts, engineering, management, and law. There currently are 13,758 full-time students at the school. At the same time, it has 2,449 teaching and administrative staffs in the campus. 

In 2008, the university was confirmed as national clinical research base construction unit. And in 2009, it was promoted to the advanced unit in national cultural and ideological construction. This university has the diploma education qualification to recruit overseas students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. 

Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine (HLJUCM) is a top 10 university in traditional Chinese medicine. The overseas-student education program of the university was started in 1980s. For many years, HLJUCM has attached great importance to the international education, academic exchange and international cooperation of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The overseas student scale of HLJUCM expands gradually with the development of the international education level. Its overseas education currently covers students from Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Oceania and Africa. The education level includes degree education and short-term training. A large number of overseas students have successfully graduated from HLJUCM.
