Qinzhou is an ancient city in the Lingnan area (south of the Five Ridges) with a history of 1,400 years and profound cultural essence. It was one of the departure ports to the Maritime Silk Route in ancient times; it is the hometown of national heroes Feng Zicai and Liu Yongfu; it is honored for being "Excellent Tourism City of China"; and is renowned as "Home of Litchi", "Home of Buffalo", "Home of Oyster" and "Home of Nixing Pottery" in China. As one of the four most renowned Chinese potteries, Nixing pottery of Qinzhou won a gold medal on the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition held in San Francisco, America.
Urban Construction
Qinzhou is a green and low-carbon coastal city suitable for business and residence. It ranked first in the survey rating of soft investment environment in Guangxi for three consecutive years, and was awarded "China's Top 10 Investment Environment Cities" four times.
In Qinzhou, the forestland area is more than 8.9 million mu (667 square meters); the forest coverage rate is 52.88 percent; the green coverage rate of central urban area is 34.13 percent; and the green area per capita is 7.05 sq m.
In recent years, Qinzhou has been thoroughly implementing the "Ten-Year Plan for Garden Life", so as to build Qinzhou into a national ecological garden city; a new 110 sq km coastal city integrated with river, sea, lake, mountain and island; an industry service center in Beibu Gulf; a coastal tourism and leisure base; and a high-grade fashionable residential district.
Transportation
Qinzhou serves as a bridge for China's corporation with ASEAN. At present, expressways and high-speed railways to sea and border are being constructed, of which seven railways and five expressways will be intersected in Qinzhou. They will connect with the networks of national trunk railways, Trans-Asian Railways, and highways in Southwest, Central South and South China. Qinzhou Port is a natural deep-water port. Direct shipping routes from Qinzhou Port to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Quanzhou, Yingkou and Tianjin Port have been opened. Besides, domestic and international shipping routes from Qinzhou Port to Hong Kong, Singapore, Haiphong and Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam, Bangkok in Thailand and Kaohsiung in Taiwan have also been opened.
