The China Advanced Semiconductor Industry Innovation Alliance launched its Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area committee in Nansha district, Guangzhou on May 8.
The alliance also reached a strategic cooperation agreement with the administrative committee of Nansha Development Zone.
The two sides will jointly establish an advanced semiconductor innovation center focused on the new energy vehicle industry with related companies.
An automotive sector with an annual output of more than 100 billion yuan ($14.7 billion), led by GAC Toyota, has emerged in Nansha.
The district plans to build a 10-square kilometer industrial park for smart connected vehicles.
The park will accommodate the 100-billion-yuan smart vehicle project invested by Evergrande Group, as well as R&D facilities for new energy vehicles by GAC Toyota, among other firms.
Advanced semiconductors are seen as a key in the development of new energy vehicles.
