The 2019 World Port Conference exploring cooperation between ports and cities officially opened at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center on May 8.
The experts from global ports, shipping industry and economic circles contributed their wisdom and solutions to issues such as the world economy and port development, the Belt and Road Initiative, the integrated development of port cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the construction of green and smart ports.
Through intuitive and practical data, concise texts and colorful pictures, Nansha conveyed its development achievements as the center of the Greater Bay Area.
Cai Chaolin, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee and Party secretary of CPC Nansha District Committee, said that Guangzhou and Nansha are willing to work with all parties to take advantage of the important platform of the World Port Conference and grasp the historical opportunities inherent in the construction of the Greater Bay Area.

Nansha Port Area, as the main port area of Guangzhou has the largest container, car and general terminal clusters in South China.
At present, Nansha Port Area has built 16, 100,000-ton container berths, six 50,000-100,000-ton bulk berths, and three 50,000-ton-class ro-ro ships parking berths. It also has 100 international routes and 200 worldwide ports and cities.
Zhou Jianjun, vice president of Huawei Technologies Co said that Huawei and the Guangzhou Port Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement for the 5G Port Innovation Center in the Greater Bay Area.
Yang Jian, associate dean of Ali Research Institute said that Ali has built an overseas global warehouse with an area of more than 80,000 square meters in Nansha. This is one of the three overseas global warehouses of Tmall International in the country.
In the future, Tmall plans to achieve an import value of $200 billion, hoping to arrange entrances and exits to the warehousing and logistics base in Nansha.
More than 1,000 guests and experts from more than 50 countries participated in the conference.
