Construction of the Yantong (Yancheng-Nantong) railway is going well and expected to be completed in 2020, the Nantong Daily reported on May 4.
The railway is 156.6 kilometers long, with a designed speed of 350 km per hour.
Starting from Yancheng Railway Station, the line runs through the city’s Dafeng district, Dongtai county, Nantong’s Rugao county, and ends at the Nantong West Railway Station, which is under construction in Tongzhou district.
Officials said the line connecting to the Hutong (Shanghai-Nantong) Railway to the south and Xuyan (Xuzhou-Yancheng) Railway to the north, is an important part of the country’s coastal transport network.
They added that with Xuyan Railway linking to Jinghu (Beijing-Shanghai) High-speed Railway, it will only take about five hours to travel from Nantong to Beijing when the Nantong-Yancheng-Xuzhou line starts operating.
