The 2019 Wuhai International Windsurfing Race kicked off on Friday in Wuhai City, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
A total of 130 windsurfers from China, Malaysia, Denmark, Britain and other countries and regions participated in the three-day event, including formula, short boards, long boards and kite boards races, organizers said.
Florian Wegerer, who ranked the first at the 2010 PWA Cabarete races, said he enjoyed the water and wind condition in Wuhai and hoped to do well during the contests.
Wuhai Lake, the playground of the event, covers an area of 118 square kilometers.
The lake took shape after the Yellow River Haibowan Water Control Project in Wuhai City had succeeded in reserving water since 2013.
