According to a ranking of the Top 100 most valuable Chinese brands recently released by BrandZ, the world's largest brand equity database, Guizhou liquor brand Kweichou Moutai ranked fifth, which is two places higher than last year's rankings.
The ranking valuates brand value basing on financial value, which refers to brands' revenue and estimated earnings, and brand contribution, which is brands' purchase volume and price premium.
With a brand value of $36.56 billion, Kweichou Moutai ranks fifth after Alibaba, Tencent, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, and China Mobile.
BrandZ noted that the brand value of the alcohol industry has the fastest growth rate of 47 percent, benefiting from the consumption upgrading trend in China.
Currently, Kweichou Moutai is promoting its online business to cover more cities, and has cooperated with a blockchain company to prevent counterfeit products.
