To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the sister cities bond between Guangzhou and Auckland, as well as enhance the two cities' cooperation in police affairs, an agreement was signed on April 29 between the Guangzhou public security bureau and the Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland) police department.

The agreement was signed by Yang Jianghua, vice mayor of Guangzhou and head of the Guangzhou public security bureau, and Counties Manukau West Area Commander Naila Hassan.
This is the first time that the Guangzhou police and a foreign police department have signed a cooperation of intent, which indicates that the law enforcement agencies of the two cities will formally cooperate in police affairs exchanges and personnel training.
