A total of 90 oil paintings created by renowned Russian artists were displayed at Shandong Art Museum in Jinan, East China's Shandong province, on May 6.
Hosted by Shandong provincial department of culture and tourism and the foreign affairs office of Shandong government, the oil painting exhibition is attracting thousands of painting enthusiasts from Russia and China to exchange oil painting art.
Themed around "Impression of Shandong", the artworks on display are painted by Russian masters based on their experiences in Shandong's Jinan, Qingdao, Qufu and Tai'erzhuang city.
"These artworks showcase a diversified Shandong through the eyes of Russian artists," said Wang Lei, the director of Shandong provincial department of culture and tourism.
The exhibition provides a bridge for the two sides to enhance cultural understanding and deepen partnerships.
Russian oil paintings, featuring humanistic spirit with a deep and dignified simplicity, enjoy a formidable reputation across the world.
Russian arts are also favored in China and some works by Russian oil painters are sought after by Chinese collectors.
Shandong Art Museum has joined hands with Russian artistic agencies for many important exhibitions in an effort to promote cultural exchange between the two sides.
The exhibition is slated to run until May 10.
