Haikou Customs announced on May 8 that Hainan's cruise dockable ports including Haikou Port and Sanya Cruise Port have achieved full coverage of quarantine inspections via telecommunications.
The implementation of the regulation makes it easier, faster, and more efficient for the exit and entry of cruise ships. It helps optimize the process of passing through quarantine inspection and saves about two hours of customs clearance time of cruises.
Telecommunications quarantine service enables cruise ships to submit their declaration to local customs through wireless communications and portable communication tools. Cruise ships will be permitted to go through without being boarded and undergoing quarantine inspection if they are considered to have passed quarantine requirements.
Cruise operators or agents can apply for the new telecommunications quarantine service 24 hours before the expected arrival or departure time. After receiving an approval and reply from the customs, the cruise ships can cancel the quarantine signal and they will be allowed to continue their journey.
Haikou Customs has performed sanitation risk assessments and established information files regarding cruises' sanitary conditions, crew physical conditions, health systems, biological control and epidemic situations. The customs will continue to improve health supervision of cruise ships, and strengthen health risk management of cruise food and drinking water.
