Wenzhou in East China's Zhejiang province, known for its thriving private and open economy, held a symposium with 32 young people from Italy on May 4 with the aim of providing a platform for them to better understand the city.
The event was co-hosted by Wenzhou human resources and social security bureau and the Consulate General of the Republic of Italy in Shanghai.
Government officials in Wenzhou introduced the social and economic development of the city, as well as its talent policies, cooperation achievements between Wenzhou and Italy, and the needs of professionals and technologies.
They hope that after getting a better understanding of Wenzhou, young Italians may consider building their careers or businesses in the East China city and foster long-term exchange and cooperation between Wenzhou and Italian professionals.

Michele Cecchi, consul general of Italy in Shanghai, wrote a letter to the symposium, stating that he was expecting the platform to contribute to the development of a new "Silk Road" and help build an effective and strong connection among Italian people in China.
Gaia Airulo, a student from Zhejiang University, said her focus on international relations requires her to have in-depth insights into Chinese society and the symposium provided a good opportunity for her to get a closer look at Wenzhou.
Another Italian student, Luca Taje, showed a strong interest in the city's history, culture and talent policies after the event. He expressed his eagerness to build a design career in Wenzhou.
A service center for Italian youth in China was unveiled at the symposium in a bid to facilitate their business building in the city.
