Second phase of China Mobile's Hohhot data center begins construction

The second phase of China Mobile's data center in Hohhot, capital of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, started construction on May 7.

The center has a planned construction area of 126,000 square meters and has received a total of 1.8 billion yuan ($266 million) in investment. It is expected to be finished within a year.

China Mobile now has data centers in Bejing, Guangzhou, Harbin, and Hohhot.

Yan Zhaohui, deputy manager of China Mobile’s Inner Mongolia branch, said that Horinger New Area has numerous geophysical advantages and the region’s low temperatures offer favorable conditions for the cooling of machines.

The new center is of great importance to the development of the cloud computer sector in Hohhot and is expected to help attract more big data companies to the area.
