The Yangzhou Taizhou International Airport celebrated its seventh anniversary on May 8.
The airport has launched a total of 48 routes, 13 of them are international, since it opened on May 8, 2012. The airport plans to launch charter flights to Nha Trang in Vietnam and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia successively in mid-May and late June.
In 2018, the airport received 2.38 million passengers and 11,100 tons of cargo. The current average passenger load factor is 85 percent. Its passenger and cargo throughput ranks 57th and 52nd respectively among 235 transportation airports in China.
"We plan to develop as an auxiliary airport of the Nanjing Lukou International Airport and become one of the world's most beautiful small and medium-sized airports in about three years," said Zhang Guilian, head of the airport.
It is estimated that the airport will receive more than 3 million passengers this year. By 2021, the airport's throughputs of passengers and cargo are expected to reach 5 million and 24,000 tons respectively.
