A set of implementation opinions for guidance of digital economic development in the period from 2018 to 2022 was recently released by the government of Daishan county in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province.

According to Hu Bin from the county's department of economy and information technology, the annual revenue of Daishan's core digital industries is 300 million yuan ($44.31 million), including 270 million yuan for the electronic information manufacturing industry and 30 million for the software and information service industry. There is also one digital enterprise with annual revenue of 100 million yuan.

"We aim to double the annual revenue of core digital industries, including 500 million yuan for the electronic information manufacturing industry and 100 million for the software and information service industry, and strive to add at least one digital enterprise with annual revenue of 100 million yuan," said Hu.

Hu added that Daishan plans to see more than 30 business incubators and innovation-oriented digital enterprises by 2022.

Daishan has witnessed rapid digital economic development in recent years. It ranked first in Zhoushan in industrial digitalization in 2017, according to an evaluation report last year on digital economic development in Zhejiang province.

The county was also selected as a provincial demonstration zone for rural information technology application and a provincial demonstration zone for integration of industrialization and information technology applications.

It introduced an e-commerce company last year to promote sales by local fishermen, and China Mobile Zhoushan recently launched 5G base stations in the county's Yushan Island to make the petrochemical base in the island more intelligent by leveraging the 5G network, the internet of things, big data and cloud computing technologies.

As for its future blueprint, Daishan aims to develop four intelligent manufacturing bases in environmentally-friendly petrochemicals, new materials, ships and auto parts, four intelligent services in digital trade, logistics, tourism and business, and four intelligent parks for small and micro-sized enterprises, agriculture, husbandry and communities.
