Founded in the 1930s, Guangzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine is now a comprehensive 3A-grade Chinese medicine hospital integrating medical treatment, scientific research, teaching and preventive healthcare.

The hospital has two campuses (its headquarters and the Tongdewei branch) and two outpatient departments. The hospital’s headquarters has 600 beds, more than 20 specialized departments, and more than 80 specialties. The Tongdewei branch has 205 beds, 15 professional departments and more than 50 specialists. At present, the hospital has more than 1,000 employees, including 198 senior professional technicians, nine provincial and municipal Chinese medicine practitioners, four doctoral tutors, 48 master's tutors, 54 professors and 33 associate professors. 

The hospital has four key specialties of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (oncology, spleen and stomach, encephalopathy, acupuncture and moxibustion), and nine key specialties of traditional Chinese medicine in Guangdong province.
