Jilin province in Northeast China saw a total of 6.11 million tourists flood in during the May Day holidays on May 1-4, marking a year-on-year increase of 13.96 percent, according to local authorities.
The four-day holiday brought tourism revenue of 6.75 billion yuan ($997 million) to Jilin province, for year-on-year growth of 16.57 percent.
Among key tourist attractions, Chagan Lake scenic area received 152,000 tourists, a massive increase of 375 percent, and Changbai Mountain scenic area received 44,600 visitors, up 111.19 percent.
Rural tourism proved popular among tourists, attracting 274,500 visitors during the holiday, up 33.6 percent.
