Ten major scenic spots in Nantong, East China’s Jiangsu province, received a total of 877,700 tourists throughout the four-day May Day holiday, according to the city’s tourism bureau.

Langshan Mountain received more than 80,000 visitors, representing a year-on-year growth of 61.7 percent, while Rugao Shuihui Garden and Zhou Ji Green Expo Garden received 230,000 and 670,000 visitors, respectively.

A total of 250,000 people visited the Nantong Forest Safari Park on May 2 alone.

A variety of cultural activities at the scenic spots helped attract visitors, such as a peony exhibition and temple fair at Langshan Mountain and an archeology exhibition at the Nantong Museum.

Rural tourism remained popular among tourists, with the occupancy rate of popular homestay hotels surpassing 90 percent during the holiday.

Picking fruit and vegetables and fishing gave tourists a great opportunity to relax and enjoy nature.
