15th Intl Cartoon & Animation Festival opens in Hangzhou

The 15th China International Cartoon & Animation Festival (CICAF) opened in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province on April 30.

Running until May 5, the annual event attracted esteemed animation companies and organizations from 86 countries and regions, including Blizzard Entertainment and Sony Entertainment from the United States and South Korea's popular comics service Webtoon.

American industrial giant Walt Disney participated in the event for the very first time with great works marking the 80th anniversary of the world-famous Marvel.

Through eight sessions and an assortment of activities, the festival delivered a comprehensive picture of the development of the domestic and international animation industry over the past 70 years.

CICAF is the only State-level professional cartoon and animation festival in China. Over the past 15 years, it has developed into the largest, most popular and most influential professional cartoon and animation festival.

The annual event has been held in Hangzhou every spring since 2005.
