AI project promotes Nansha smart city construction

The development of the artificial intelligence(AI) industry and the implementation of Nansha’s first AI application demonstration projects were launched on April 28.

Intelligent network-connected cars, health care, intelligent manufacturing and other key areas are empowered through AI to improve administrative efficiency.

Thus AI will promote the construction of a new smart city in Nanshaas the front runner of the AI industry.

In October 2018, Nansha became home to the first AI application demonstration project in China.

After review by industry experts and government AI departments, ten projects including Nansha artificial intelligence administration, smart medical application demonstrations, Pony.AI Auto Driving Teamand intelligent home appliance manufacturing applications covering key areas such as intelligent networked cars, health care, smart ports, and smart manufacturing were selected.

The demonstration project of smart medical applications led by iFLY TEK South China Artificial Intelligence Research Institute of the University of Science and Technology of China has been implemented for more than a year.

Nansha Qingsheng Artificial Intelligence Value Innovation Park has been named to the first group of provincial AI industrial parks.

In addition, after more than a year of road testing, the Pony.AI auto driving team in Nansha has developed rapidly.

"At present, our artificial intelligence medical image-assisted diagnosis center can diagnose 93.7percent of lung nodules above 3 mm, and the diagnostic accuracy of 3 mm lung nodules or less reaches 85percent. This is equivalent to a medical imaging expert's level who has been working for more than 10 years,"said Fei Ridong, vice president of iFLY TEK.

The technology will also help doctors in primary hospitals reduce the pressure of insufficient primary medical resources and improve the satisfaction of patients.

China Post's smart warehouse project of Guangzhou Jite Technology Co, Ltdis being rolled out in Nansha Bonded Port Area and the warehouse will be put into use in September.It is expected to save about half of the labor cost for warehouse operations.

Guangzhou Cloud Walk Information Technology Co installed 12 face recognition gates at the main entrance and exit of the Nansha District Administrative Center and staff restaurants. More than 2,000 people passed the daily identification and the accuracy rate reached 99.9 percent.

The AI industry is an important starting point for Nansha to promote economic development and new urban construction.

The main tasks of Nansha include agglomeration of industrial factors and attracting enterprises, releasing data scenarios and creating sample cases, case promotion and replication and formation of industrial scale.

Xie Ming, deputy director of the Administrative Committee of the Nansha Development Zone,said that Nansha will continue to increase its support for the AI industry, open up data and application scenarios, take technology supply and social needs into consideration, and form an AI industrial cluster to empower traditional industries, improve administrative efficiency, and create convenient applications for daily life.

Cai Chaolin, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee and Party secretary of CPC Nansha District Committee attended the event, as did other Nansha officials.
