A special activity was held at a village in Donghai Island in Zhanjiang, Guangdong to raise people's awareness on protecting Chinese white dolphins.

The event was held by the natural resources bureau of Zhanjiang, a member of the Chinese White Dolphin Protection Alliance, which teamed up with Guangdong Ocean University, Lingnan University, and the city's association for science and technology.
During the activity, experts from the natural resources bureau of Zhanjiang showed the specimens of Chinese white dolphins to local residents and introduced the living conditions and protection measures needed to take care of the dolphins.
The Chinese white dolphin is a variety of the Indo-Pacific humpbacked dolphin. This variety inhabits the eastern portion of the species range, in Southeast Asia and Australia and is a first-class national level protected animal.
