A soccer team from the No 2 Middle School of First Machinery Group won a silver medal at an indoor five-a-side soccer game that recently concluded at Southern Medical University in Guangzhou, South China’s Guangdong province, according to an April 29 Baotou Daily report.
The national-level soccer game, hosted by the General Administration of Sports, was aimed at male students aged between 14 and 15.
The silver medal was Inner Mongolia’s first medal for national-level soccer.
Inner Mongolia autonomous region, which recently made school soccer a priority, now boasts 1,650 schools that offer soccer lessons and training, and it has been selected as the first provincial/autonomous region-level pilot area for the promotion of soccer.
In recent years, the No 2 Middle School of First Machinery Group has been actively promoting the reform and development of campus soccer. It was even awarded the title of National Campus Soccer School.
The school is equipped with one standard soccer field, one indoor soccer field, and one five-person soccer field, all of which are high quality. The excellent facilities have laid a solid foundation for the development of soccer at the school.
