Shanxi University won first place at the finals for the 2019 ASC Student Supercomputer Challenge at Dalian University of Technology on April 25.
Shanxi University team completed cluster building and testing, a group competition, a mystery application and a team presentation by using a total of less than 3000W of power, earning it 12th place among a total of 19 contestants in the finals.
This demonstrated the university’s potential in the development of high-performance computing applications and will encourage it to integrate supercomputers, big data, and artificial intelligence.
Initiated by the Asia Supercomputer Community in 2012, the ASC Student Supercomputer Challenge has become the world’s largest supercomputing hackathon, and its eight sessions have attracted a total of over 7,000 college and university students from across the globe.
The competition serves to challenge and inspire the next generation of high performance computing scientists and engineers and help them deliver innovative solutions.
