The International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 Beijing opened to the public in Yanqing district of Beijing on April 28 and will last until Oct 7.
According to Yang Youping, a news spokesman of the Zhejiang Forestry Department, Zhejiang will focus on its green, digital and international development, and present "one garden, one pavilion, one day, one stone and one wall" at the expo, referring to Zhejiang Garden, Zhejiang Pavilion, a "Zhejiang Day" event, a stalagmite stone from Zhejiang's Changshan county, and the province's participation in the construction of the ecological wall of the Chinese pavilion.
Zhejiang Garden, located at the center of the expo park, covers an area of 4,200 square meters, making it the third largest garden after the Beijing and Hebei gardens.
Adopting the slogan "Picturesque Zhejiang, Nostalgic Hometown", Zhejiang Garden uses its abundant horticultural resources and Zhejiang-style gardening techniques to create a real-life version of the Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains, a famous painting depicting scenery along the Fuchun River in Zhejiang.
The 120-square-meter Zhejiang Pavilion is split into four main areas, showcasing the province's horticultural development with a collection of plants.
The "Zhejiang Day" event, slated to be held from June 6-8, will present an assortment of activities promoting international exchange and cooperation.
The horticultural exhibition is the highest-level and largest international fair to be held in China after the International Horticultural Exhibition held in the southwestern city of Kunming in 1999, the 2010 Shanghai World Expo and the first China International Import Expo in 2018.
A total of 110 countries and international organizations, 31 Chinese provinces, municipalities and special administrative regions, and more than 120 nongovernmental exhibitors are attending the event. It is estimated that over 16 million people from around the world will visit the expo in the following 162 days.
