More advanced technologies will be brought in to propel the development of innovation in Hengqin New Area, with enhanced interaction between the BNU-BUCM Hengqin Innovation Institute of Science & Technology and Swedish and Swiss scientists.
A technological projects symposium was held at Macao-Hengqin Youth Entrepreneurship Valley (Inno Valley HQ) on April 25. The institute signed agreements with Ideon Science Park, the Swiss-Sino Innovation Center (SSIC), and Beijing Private Economic Development Association for strategic cooperation and project settlement.

Ideon, the first park of its kind in Sweden, is situated next to Lund University. It has a diverse set of competencies within connectivity, life science, energy, medtech, smart materials and food innovation. Over 400 hi-tech companies such as Bosch, Sony, Ericsson, and Huawei have R&D departments or offices there. SSIC is a non-profit platform dedicated to organically combining technology industries between China and Switzerland. It owns more than 6,000 technological projects.

Eight internationally advanced technologies were promoted at the roadshow. They were related to intelligent analytical instruments, simulation software for high-performance material manufacturing devices, wearable sensors, big data-based tumor gene detection, solutions to high-efficiency distributed energy storage systems, sports medicine equipment R&D and technology transformation, and polysilicon ceramic super anticorrosive coating technology.
Highlighted was a high-efficiency environmentally friendly seed activation technology, which had previously been applied to more than 98 varieties of 350 seeds. Its inventor, Dr Shen Tongyun, garnered the 31st Innovation Prize to the Memory of Alfred Nobel in 2016.
Face-to-face exchanges were conducted between project teams, financing enterprise executives, entrepreneurs, and Hengqin officials to push forward settlement of the projects in Hengqin.
Symposium attendees also went on a field trip to the Hengqin New Area Exhibition Hall and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Science & Technology Industrial Park of Cooperation Between Guangdong & Macao on April 26.
To date, Hengqin has been home to five academicians, two provincial leading talents, one provincial and three municipal entrepreneurship and innovation teams, and seven post-doctoral sci-tech workstations. Over 100 national distinguished experts have set up businesses in the area.
