Chun'an county in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province officially broke ground on a sub-village for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 on April 23, local media reported.
Covering an area of 8.4 square kilometers, the village, developed by Luneng Group Co Ltd, will consist of a new bicycle hall, five temporary construction sites, and other venues for athletes, media outlets and technical staff.
A total of 22 gold medals will be handed out in three major sports events in the village – cycling, triathlon, and open water swimming.
Huang Haifeng, Party secretary of Chun'an, congratulated the county on the new village and expressed gratitude to those who have contributed to the project.
Chun'an is honored to play a part in the Asian Games. The new village will also help to promote industrial transformation and green development in the county, Huang said.
He added that the inauguration of Chun'an sub-village marks a substantial progress for the county in the preparations for the Asian Games.
The village is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
