Hainan Goldlines Orchid Industrial Development Co Ltd recently agreed to cultivate 300,000 orchid seedlings for Kunming (Netherlands) Anthura Company in 2019.
These orchid seedlings will be exported to Vietnam, the US, and for the first time, enter European countries.
Anthura in Netherlands is a world famous seedling production enterprise mainly engaging in breeding and cultivation of red palms, butterfly orchids and cut-flowers.
A higher-up from the Forestry Department of Hainan Province said that Anthura has strict quality control in planting and seedlings such as disinfection, climate, temperature, light, and humidity of the greenhouse. All these requirements have rigorous data support. The cooperation showed the company's recognition on the high quality of Hainan's orchid-seedlings.
The unique geographical location and superior natural environment in Hainan provide abundant sunshine and relatively high temperatures, which are more suitable for cultivating the seedlings rather than the flowers of orchids. The new method of exporting has also lowered costs.
Greenhouses of Hainan Goldlines Orchid Industrial Development Co Ltd are almost entirely automated. Only two or three workers are needed to manage an area of 5,000 square meters.
Mo Chunren, deputy chief of Goldlines Investment Group, the parent company of Hainan Goldlines Orchid Industrial Development Co Ltd, said that the company's Hainan branch will build a 10 billion yuan ($1.46 billion) butterfly orchid seedling supply center to serve countries around the world. It plans to expand imports and exports to help build Hainan's pilot free trade zone and free trade port.
The provincial government is also formulating development plans for the tropical flower industry to encourage plantation of export flower varieties and promote Hainan's tropical flowers all over the world.
