A ceremony was held on April 13 at the 203 Scenic Area in Lushunkou, Dalian, a city in North China's Liaoning province, to unveil cherry blossom-themed stamps.
To commemorate the 11th Dalian (Lushun) International Cherry Blossom Festival in 2019, the Lushunkou Post issued 1,000 limited-edition cherry blossom stamps and commemorative envelopes for the first time. These are the first cherry blossom-themed stamps to be issued in Dalian.
According to local media reports, the pictures on the stamps are the works of a famous local photographer, while the commemorative envelopes are created by young Dalian artists. The patterns on the envelopes are hand-painted cherry blossom and Sino-Soviet friendship towers, which symbolize of warmth, purity, aestheticism, and peace.
