A forum on business-university cooperation involving physics disciplines and the optoelectronics information industry was held at Shanxi University (SXU) on April 12.
Representatives of 20 Shanxi optoelectronics companies, including Jincheng Foxconn and Shanxi High-tech Huaye Electronic Group, as well as directors of radiology departments at eight Shanxi public hospitals, were invited to the forum to discuss how physics disciplines contributed to the development of the optoelectronics information industry.
Shanxi University and Foxconn (Jincheng) Science and Technology Industrial Park were recognized as the Shanxi Optoelectronic Information Graduate Education Innovation Center at the forum. Huang Guitian, president of the university, appointed four employees at the Foxconn (Jincheng) Science and Technology Industrial Park as postgraduate tutors.
The forum also saw the establishment of the Shanxi Optoelectronics Information Industry Institute.
The university will make use of the institute to further business-university-government partnerships, form an integrated development model from basic research to the commercialization of technology, and cultivate optoelectronics talents and professionals to increase the competitiveness of the Shanxi optoelectronics information industry, according to Huang.
