Harbin Power Plant Equipment Corporation announced on April 16 that a main helium fan for the world's first high-temperature gas-cooled reactor nuclear power plant, made by its Jiamusi subsidiary, recently got the green light from authorities after testing.
The main helium fan, known as the "heart" of high-temperature gas-cooled reactors, provides sufficient flows of helium through a primary loop system to remove heat from the reactor core during reactor start-ups, power operation and shutdowns.
Company executives said that overcoming the technical and manufacturing barriers marked a big breakthrough for Harbin Power Plant Equipment Corporation, which has leading technologies in nuclear power equipment and has fully-independent intellectual property rights on the equipment.
