Zhejiang partners with top Chinese aeronautics and astronautics university

A delegation of government officials from East China's Zhejiang province visited Beihang University, previously known as Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, in Beijing on April 16.

Led by Yuan Jiajun, governor of Zhejiang, the delegation was taken to the Aeronautics and Astronautics Museum as well as key laboratories at the university, where they attended an exhibition showcasing its many achievements in the field.

The Hangzhou government and the Zhejiang Department of Education signed a cooperation agreement with Beihang to operate a China-France aeronautics education program in the province's capital city Hangzhou.

In addition, the province's top research institute, Zhejiang Lab, inked an agreement with the university to jointly build a quantum sensing research center.

The governor expressed gratitude to Beihang University for its support of Zhejiang's aviation industry over the years and spoke highly of the university's contributions to China's scientific and technological innovation and talent cultivation.

Yuan is optimistic about the partnership between Zhejiang and Beihang, saying that the province has been striving to develop aeronautical manufacturing and general aviation over the past several years, and the cooperation is expected to bring about new opportunities.

Founded in 1952, Beihang University was the first university in China to focus on education and research in aeronautics and astronautics.
